 What is an Auto Belay? The Automatic Belay is a controlled descent device designed specifically for the climbing wall and climbing gym industry. The Auto Belay provides a hands free belay for the climber, thereby eliminating the need for an additional climber or attendant to serve as belayer. As the climber ascends, the slack rope is pulled taut. Once at the top, or whenever the climber lets go of the wall, the device gently lowers them to the ground.

How does it work? The Auto Belay can be installed at the top of any indoor or outdoor climbing wall or challenge course. Our new product has dual internal clutches and brake mechanisms that keep constant tension on the climber as they ascend, catches them when they fall, and lowers them to back to the ground. A mechanically activated device, the Auto Belay is always on, regardless of sudden electrical or environmental changes.  When the Automatic Belay is used properly and regularly maintained according to manufacturer guidelines, it is an incredibly safe and reliable device.
